The Digital Underwater Photographer specialty teaches you how to choose and handle a camera underwater, get your colours and composition right, and take better photos from your very next dive.
What you will learn
- Choosing and caring for an underwater camera system.
- The PADI SEA principles: shoot close, get the exposure right, angle up.
- Composition, light and colour underwater.
- Photographing marine life responsibly — without touching or chasing it.
How the course runs
- Knowledge development: PADI eLearning at your own pace, or a classroom session with your instructor.
- 2 open water photography dives with your instructor. Open water dives take place in the sea in Jeddah or Dammam.
- On completion you receive the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer certification.

- All diving equipment — you can bring your own wetsuit or buy one at the center.
- Sea (beach) entry fees.
- Training with certified PADI instructors.
Before you start
- Minimum age: 10 years.
- Prerequisite: PADI Open Water Diver (or Junior Open Water Diver), or an equivalent certification.
- Bring your own underwater camera (or a camera with an underwater housing) — the course is taught on your camera.
