The Search and Recovery specialty teaches you systematic ways to search an area underwater and safely lift objects to the surface using a lift bag.

What you will learn

• Planning and organising a search with your team.
• Search patterns: expanding square, U-pattern and rope-based searches.
• Locating small and large objects.
• Lifting objects safely with a lift bag and controlling the ascent.

How the course runs

• Knowledge development: PADI eLearning at your own pace, or a classroom session with your instructor.
• 4 open water dives with your instructor. Open water dives take place in the sea in Jeddah or Dammam.
• On completion you receive the PADI Search and Recovery Diver certification.

• All diving equipment — you can bring your own wetsuit or buy one at the center.
• Sea (beach) entry fees.

Before you start

• Minimum age: 12 years.
• Prerequisite: PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver, or an equivalent certification.
